Archery
Participants learn about safety, history, and basic skills using fiberglass recurved bows; beginner and intermediate levels; run during summer day camp on Parsons Field beside Consolidated
Bike Club
Bike trips are taken one afternoon per week during the summer day camp to local points of interest; helmets and proof of road safety skills required
Craft Mania
Exciting craft projects offered one afternoon per week during summer day camp; led by a trained instructor; more elaborate than our regular camp crafts
Family Ski Program
A 5-Sunday plan (plus a free bonus voucher) at Shawnee Peak with incredible group discount packages for lift only, lift and lesson/rental, or lift, lesson, and rental for skiers or snowboarders; limited transportation available in the recreation van @ $7/trip
Instructional Basketball
Instructional programs for children in kindergarten through second grade, offered at the Kennebunk Elementary School in January and February
After School Adventure
This program runs every day after school at Consolidated; we accept children for full weeks, regularly scheduled days, or even drop-ins with sufficient notice to the recreation office; staff members are challenged to balance the activities between active and passive, competitive and cooperative, etc.; we do not operate on school snow days or legal holidays; all participants must sign a contract in addition to the regular registration form
Mini-Golf Tour
Participants test their skills at area courses one afternoon per week during the summer day camp
Move Over Miss Frizzle
Just for kindergarten students in the spring; this program is a series of small field trips to (somewhat) educational sites such as a local horse farm where they get to see how a horse is groomed and have an opportunity to ride, and to a bowling alley to see how to bowl and how the machines reset the pins, etc
New Horizons
Special classes such as crafts, cooking, rocket club, lacrosse, gym games, van trips, etc. offered during the after school hours; periodic brochures available
Open Gym
At Consolidated School on Sunday afternoons January through mid-March; 1:00-3:00 for all ages
Outdoor Adventure
A summertime program for youngsters 11-14 who want to experience the great outdoors in some challenging group activities such as canoeing, kayaking, mountain hiking, and much more
Over 30 Basketball
Pick-up games every Thursday evening (except school vacation weeks) from 7:00-9:00 in the Consolidated School gymnasium
Roller Hockey
Offered one afternoon per week during the summer day camp; participants bring skates, helmets, and pads; we provide the referee, the rink, goals, goalie equipment, sticks, and balls; different sessions for different abilities
Spring Soccer
A very informal program for boys and girls in grades k-1, 2-3, and 4-6; no set practice times, just games on Monday afternoons (new in '07) through early June
Summer Day Camp
A full eight weeks of action and adventure for children entering kindergarten through those completing 6th grade; located at the Consolidated School and Parsons Field; featuring field trips, age appropriate activities, special classes and events, Friday luncheons, and much more; great flexibility to meet individual needs...register for the entire summer at a special rate or pay a registration fee and "pay as you go" on a daily or weekly basis
Swimming Lessons
Offered twice a week during our summer day camp at the Northern York County YMCA; lessons for all swimming abilities; transportation provided to/from day camp
Tae Kwon Do
An intergenerational class offered twice weekly (currently Sunday and Wednesday evenings from 6:00-7:30) in the Consolidated School gym; excellent for stretching and fitness; $25/month registration fee; instructor is Marc Feldman
Tennis Lessons
Varying levels taught to youth at Beachwood Park; two mornings per week in the summer
Travel Basketball
Teams for grades 5 & 6 that compete in a southern Maine league; play begins in December and culminates with tournament play in March; participants must try out for this program
Vacation Programs
Offered during the February and April school vacations; field trips, special entertainment, gym activities and much more
Youth Basketball
Leagues for grades 2-3 and 4-6; practices start in December; games are played on Saturdays beginning in January using Consolidated, Kennebunk Middle, and Sea Road Schools; time commitment is one hour for practice and one hour for a game each week
Youth Golf Camp
Offered in one week sessions by the golf pro at the Cape Arundel Golf Course
Youth Soccer
Fall leagues for grades k-1, 2-3, and 4-6; coed for all grade levels or all girls in second grade and above; season runs from September through the end of October with games played on Sunday afternoons at Parsons Field beside Consolidated School; time commitment of one hour for practice and one hour for a game each week
Sea Kayaking
Come explore the coast and rivers of Kennebunkport and the surrounding area! These three hour sessions are for beginners or those with limited paddling experience and for intermediate paddlers or those with some formal sea kayak training.
Adult Golf Lessons
Offered in the spring by the Golf Pro at Cape Arundel Golf Club, this series of lessons will teach the game of golf from A-Z. Open to beginners or those who want to improve their game.
