KENNEBUNK RIVER COMMITTEE

MINUTES OF THE OCTOBER 18, 2005 MEETING

A quorum of the Members was present and available to vote.

Also Present:

James Nadeau, Harbormaster

Meeting called to order at 7:00 PM by Chairman Littell.

Minutes of the June meeting were accepted as presented.

There was a general discussion about the application of the Nonantum Resort to undertake a “box dredge” the dock are to 6 feet at mean low water, with the dredge spoil to be disposed of as required by the Army Corps of Engineers.

On motion duly made and seconded, it was unanimously

VOTED:    To approve and endorse the application, subject only to the applicant’s receipt of authorizations from all relevant State, Federal and Local authorities.

The issue of the purchase of the mooring barge was discussed and the Harbormaster made it clear to the Committee that it was his position that the acquisition of the barge was a priority.  Member Williamson was recused due to the fact that he owned the barge in question.

On motion duly made and seconded, it was unanimously

VOTED:    To approve and endorse the purchase of the mooring barge from Robert Williamson as soon as possible, with the details to be addressed by the Chair, the Harbormaster and the town Managers.

A discussion ensued about mooring fees, it being clear that the members believed the fees to be too low.

On motion duly made and seconded, it was unanimously

VOTED:    To undertake all action necessary to increase the mooring fees as follows:
                Actively used commercial - $100.00
                Resident recreational - $130.00
                Non-resident recreational - $150.00

It was noted that mooring repairs/services should be undertaken “at cost” if the mooring holder chooses to have the Harbormaster undertake the work.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:20PM.
