Q. Where can I apply for a passport?
A. April Dufoe, the Town Clerk of Kennebunkport is an acceptance agent for Passport Services. Applications are accepted Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM until 12:00 noon only.
Q. What do I need to apply for a passport?
A. You will need:
1. A completed application form (available at the Town Offices).
2. Evidence of Citizenship (ex.- Certified copy of birth certificate, previous passport, Naturalization papers, ect.).
3. Identification (ex.- Driver's license).
4. Two identical 2"X2" passport photos.
5. Two checks (one for the U.S. Department of State and one for the Town of Kennebunkport).
Q. Are there special requirements for children under age 16?
A. Yes. To submit an application for a child under age 16, both parents must appear (as well as the child) and present all of the following:
1. Evidence of child's U.S. citizenship:
2. Evidence of child's relationship to parents; and
3. Parental identification.
If only one parent appears, you must also submit one of the following:
1. Second parent's written statement consenting to passport issuance for the child; or
2. Primary evidence of sole authority to apply.
Q. When can I renew my passport by mail?
A. You can renew your passport by mail if:
1. You can submit your most recent U.S. passport;
2. You were at least 16 years old when your most recent passport was issued;
3. Your most recent U.S. passport was issued less than 15 years ago; and
4. You use the same name as on your most recent U.S. passport or you have had a name changed by marriage or court order and can submit the proper documentation to reflect the name change.
Q. How long does it take to get a passport?
A. Passports are returned in 6 weeks. If you need one faster, you can pay an additional $60.00 fee to expedite and you can receive your passport back to you in 3 weeks.
